A Volvo hybrid? Let me guess, it appeases the greens but fails to deliver in the real-world
The typical hybrid this is not. Instead of having an electric motor that only works at very low speeds before a regular engine cuts in, this C30 – dubbed ReCharge Concept – can be driven on electric-only power for 62 miles which is adequate for most commutes.
In pursuit of the Ford Raptor, the just-announced aftermarket Lingenfelter Reaper and who knows how many other desert-stompin' pickups and SUVs, Toyota introduced the TRD Pro Series of off-road vehicle packages at the Chicago Auto Show. The Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner each get kits designed by Toyota Racing Development that will be installed at the factory. All TRD Pro Series kits will include:
- TRD Bilstein remote-reservoir shocks
- TRD-tuned front springs
- TRD front skid plate
- A bunch of cosmetic touches like TRD floor mats and shift knobs.
Audi has released first sketches of the Audi A3 concept, ahead of its debut at the 2011 Geneva motor show. Audi is previewing the upcoming A3 with this saloon concept. It's powered by the fan-favourite five-cylinder turbocharged engine in 408bhp specification. Quattro four-wheel-drive and a seven-speed S-tronic double-clutch transmission complete the powertrain.
Sizewise, the new A3 saloon is 4440mm long, 1840mm wide and 1390mm high. That's longer than the current A3 Sportback (4.3m) but shorter than the current VW Jetta saloon (4.64m). The new concept is slightly wider and lower than the current A3.
